Her Hope Kentucky is founded and operated by a mother and son duo, Jennifer Beagle and Christopher Dye. Both are survivors of childhood sex abuse and trauma as well as domestic violence and abandonment.
Jennifer, just 19 years old when learning she was pregnant with Chris, was already well into her 10th year of alcoholism and drug addiction. Being raised in Florida’s foster care system, Jennifer never learned how to be a healthy adult let alone a mother. She walked out of Christopher‘s life when he was just four years old and the two were reunited when he was 12.
During that eight year gap, Jennifer experienced homelessness, severe drug addiction, multiple incarcerations, and was a victim of sex trafficking. Jennifer found Jesus in a closet and surrendered her life to serving Him. In that, they were reunited and Chris became a believer. Over the years, God spoke many times that the two would be in ministry together… God spoke that he wanted to use their story to help reconcile families - mothers would know that they can get their children back, also children will know that they can get their mothers back. Through Jesus, anything is possible. Jennifer and Chris have devoted themselves to the calling of God on their lives! They have partnered together for the Kingdom to create a safe place for rehabilitation and restoration, not only in their families but to their rightful place in Jesus.
She was different from the others who came to “preach” in jail. You could tell she not only lived it. She understood it; the hope of wanting someone to believe in you … she did that… she showed up.. she fought even when I didn’t want to… she honored.. she protected.. she believed… always.
I was incarcerated at the county jail and faced 32 years in prison. This was the state’s offer. Week after week, month after month, Jennifer fought for me before judges and prosecuting attorneys. She, after eight months, finally won our case. I was sentenced to two years under her leadership and am now free! That was in 2016!
It’s because she believed and never gave up on me that I now have my freedom… and when I say freedom, I not only mean my sobriety but free to be me.. free to love myself.. my story.. my scars… my two amazing babies… I have a fantastic job and stability (6 raises… head nurse in 4 years). The system said I’d never succeed in society, and here I am, killing it because I was given the chance of a lifetime.
Today and every day is my second chance… because Mrs. Jen fought for me, prayed for me, believed in me, and never gave up on me. Because of her belief, support, and care, I have a new life, a life that I love.
We built more of a relationship because she wasn’t just a mentor; she cared. We now remain friends.
She’s everything we lack in the system and everything we need more of. I am no longer a forgotten person in society but a survivor of sexual exploitation, addiction, domestic violence, and a hopeless life. I am an overcomer!
